I did a little photoshop painting on the barn swallow from yesterday, but I'm not 100% pleased with it. I wanted to experiment with watercolor style but it didn't come out in that method yet.

Today I drew a barn swallow. We have a lot of those on the farm I grew up. They used to swoop at me while I was mowing the lawn. I really enjoy drawing and painting birds. The feathers are always fun and you can add a lot of expression with a few swipes of the pencil on the face and around the eye. The original photo came from Lone Wolf Photos. Thank you. Tomorrow I hope to have the time to paint this sketch in photoshop and do a run-through video.
I decided to work on my personal logo today. I got a cool sketch together and was able to get a video to demonstrate how I did the vectors. Let me know if you'd like to know how I did anything. This logo is so not finished but it does explain some basics on how illustrator works. This morning I was in the shower thinking about what would bring me great joy to sketch on my first day. I thought about doing a power drill, sofa, elf lady, Chibi people, and other odds and ends. A cockroach came to mind (without seeing one mind you). What better than an icky little bug to start things off right. It indeed was fun. Thank you jmagnum for the awesome music to pair with my sketch.
This evening I was staring at my laptop in my bed wondering "What do I love to do?"
I knew what I loved to do. I love to draw. I love to invent. I love a challenge. I love goals. I've been thinking about making a blog and youtube video series with my sketches and work for some time. Tonight the procrastination bell tolled. It is time. Tomorrow I look forward to showing you my first daily sketch. I will make a sketch at least every day for my and maybe your pleasure. Some may be very quick. Some may deserve to be in the trash. I will do it. So begins my vow to myself and anyone who might care to look. Drawings are a go! -Melangle |
